Approval is required from the Ministry of the Environment (MOE) before you can install and operate HVAC equipment, cooling towers and emergency power generators.  

Hotels, motels and resorts are held to a high compliance standard since they are designated as sensitive receptors and susceptible to odour and noise complaints from their own clients as well as neighbours.  In addition, the MOE is proposing changes to the emergency generator compliance limits and the procedures that are used to assess compliance.  If the legislation is passed it could make it more difficult to secure an Approval and unless grandfathering provisions are incorporated some facilities might find themselves out of compliance.
