VOC & Odour Abatement for Industrial Manufacturing Processes
This breakfast seminar is intended for owners, plant managers, maintenance managers, EHS managers, operators or those responsible for industrial facilities with processes that generate continuous or intermittent odour or VOCs that have the potential to generate off-property complaints or that are pushing the environmental compliance limits.
Pinchin has particular expertise with VOC & odour assessment, abatement strategy development and implementation. This seminar will show you why you need specialists on your team.
Odour can be an unfortunate by-product of many industrial processes including seemingly benign activities such as bakeries or consumer food products. Commonly, odour is associated with volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and semi-volatile organic compounds (SVOCs) that, if controlled or eliminated, will diminish the off-property odour impact. The Ontario Ministry of the Environment is very responsive to odour complaints particularly when the odour impacts residential areas, schools and other sensitive receptors. This is evidenced by frequent reference on their website to Environmental Protection Act Section 14 (adverse effect) orders or fines.
In addition, lower environmental limits for Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) are being phased-in and it is essential that you assess your environmental impact now and take action so that you comply in 2010.
If you have odour or VOC issues or there is likelihood that you could adversely impact your neighbours then it is important for you to attend this seminar. Odour and VOC abatement can be expensive and it is imperative that you systematically assess the problem following a tried and true process which will lead you to a clear picture of your options.
In addition, lower environmental limits for Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) are being phased-in and it is essential that you assess your environmental impact now and take action so that you comply in 2010. We will discuss:
- odour and VOC sampling and analysis,
- emission source prioritization and abatement strategy development,
- abatement technology selection,
- engineering design,
- tender and contract administration, permitting,
- construction project management,
- commissioning, and
- performance testing.
This portion of the presentation will last approximately 2 hours.
Odour Analysis Workshop Included:
The second half of the presentation will include a hands-on odour analysis workshop where each participant will be given the opportunity to sniff odour samples and gain an understanding of the important regulatory distinction between detection and recognition thresholds and how we use these results in our MOE negotiations. Participants will analyze samples following MOE protocol using a dynamic dilution olfactometer. This one (1) hour workshop is entertaining, informative and essential if you currently have odour issues at your plant.
Have a Question for our Breakfast or Course Leader ?
Pinchin delivers close to a hundred seminars per year and we recognize that some people are not comfortable asking potentially sensitive questions in an open forum. We will gladly deal with these one-on-one but if you want to email the question ahead of time, we'll make sure we answer it during the seminar. Send questions to General Inquiries.
