The Peterborough office is currently recruiting for the position of Environmental Consultant to join the Environmental Due Diligence & Remediation Group, reporting directly to the Regional Manager with Technical Support provided by the Vice President.The overall responsibilities for this position include:

Responsibilities & Attributes: 

The Peterborough office is currently recruiting for the position of Environmental Consultant to join the Environmental Due Diligence & Remediation Group, reporting directly to the Regional Manager with Technical Support provided by the Vice President.The overall responsibilities for this position include:

  1. Financial and Administrative Responsibilities
    1. Demonstrating good business knowledge and awareness of financial implications of day-to-day decisions made with regard to projects
    2. Complying with Company policies and procedures
    3. Responsible for group financial performance ensuring that:
      • Group budgets are prepared on time for review by the Vice President
      • Profit and utilization targets are met
      • Employees under supervision perform administrative responsibilities on a timely basis
    4. Maintaining a personal utilization of at least 50%
    5. Representing Pinchin in a professional & courteous manner
    6. Ensuring that supervisors under his/her control and direct reports submit internal reporting information on a timely basis (e.g. time entry, expense reports, pre-bills, etc.)
    7. Gathering information and responding promptly to the annual budget request made by the Finance Department
    8. Track monthly group performance (client satisfaction, revenue/profit, A/R, WIP, billings, etc.)
  2. Supervision of Project Managers and Project Technologists/Scientists
    1. Ensuring the well being and safety of Pinchin employees at all work sites
    2. Performance measurement and discipline
    3. Ensuring proper equipment is assigned to each employee
    4. Coordinating group resources, including employee allocation, equipment control and maintenance, vacation scheduling, weekend resources, etc.
    5. Providing technical assistance to employees under supervision
    6. Liaison between clients and Pinchin employees
  3. Coordination of Project Activities
    1. Scheduling inspections, surveys and meetings with clients/contractors
    2. Assigning work to group employees as appropriate, depending on work loads
    3. Overseeing preparation of contract documents to Pinchin standards
    4. Coordinating work and client contacts with other groups within the Company and the Pinchin Group
  4. Training and Mentoring of Employees under Supervision
    1. Ensuring that employees are performing their work in a safe manner
    2. Supervising employees and monitoring their job proficiency
    3. Ensuring employees are trained in, and maintain, company procedures and programs
    4. Providing technical assistance to employees
    5. Controlling and monitoring the quality of work performed by employees
    6. Working with employees to develop and instill goals set in Pinchin’s Employee Development Program
  5. Maintaining Quality Control
    1. Preliminary reviews of Phase I & II ESA and remediation reports
    2. Participating in all quality control initiatives
    3. Reviewing the work of employees under supervision and colleagues to ensure it meets the standards established for Pinchin work
    4. Reviewing their own work prior to submitting for quality review
    5. Submitting all work for quality review prior to submission to clients
    6. Making suggestions to the Vice President to continually improve work quality
  6. Performing Project Management Duties
    1. Client Development and Marketing
    2. Overseeing environmental assessment (Phase I & II ESA) projects, contract preparation and remediation work
    3. Preparing contract documents for projects
    4. Supervising Project Technicians/Technologists in their job functions
    5. Training and mentoring of junior and intermediate staff, including reviewing of all written work
    6. Maintaining and enhancing quality control within the group
Qualifications: 
  • Applicants should hold a B.A. Sc. or B.Sc. Degree with 4 to 5 years of consulting experience
  • Extensive experience with Phase I & II ESAs, remediation, compliance audits, etc.
  • Proven ability to attract new business, develop existing client base and recognize new market opportunities
  • Must have proven management experience, preferably managing a multi-disciplinary team.
  • A licensed professional in respective discipline (P.Geo. or P.Eng.) is preferred
  • Must have excellent leadership, strong interpersonal, presentation and team building skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
Other: 

Candidates must be able to work well in a team environment and shall possess a high level of oral and written communication skills which are essential to the position.  This position requires work related travel. Therefore, a valid driver’s license, insurance & personal vehicle is required (work-related travel expenses will be compensated).
