Course Overview & Scope

Pinchin’s asbestos awareness course offers a thorough yet concise overview of asbestos uses, health hazards, and regulatory requirements. This course is designed for anyone who may encounter asbestos in the workplace or home, as well as those who are involved in health & safety or administer Asbestos Management Programs.

Important Note:

The scope of this course is awareness-level only, and does not provide sufficient training to perform work in a high risk containment. Please refer to the Alberta Asbestos Abatement Manual for classifications of asbestos work operations or contact us if you need guidance.

Instructor Bio(s)

Doug Vantour, Dipl. (NRT), BAEM, CRSP (Edmonton)
Project Manager, Hazardous Materials and Indoor Environmental Quality

Doug is a Project Manager in the Hazardous Materials and Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) groups and has been employed by Pinchin Ltd. since 2016. Doug holds a Diploma in Natural Resources Technology and a Bachelor of Applied Environmental Management degree, both from Lakeland College in Vermilion, Alberta and is a member of the Canadian Registered Safety Professionals.

Doug has more than 13 years of hazardous materials and occupational hygiene consulting experience and has managed projects over a variety of disciplines, including hazardous materials investigations, industrial hygiene monitoring, Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), remediation solution design, compliance monitoring, reclamation, health and safety audits and waste stream tracking of residential, commercial and industrial (upstream and downstream) sites. Doug has managed projects and performed field related services in Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and the Northwest Territories on a large variety of work sites. This experience extends to educational, government, financial, military, commercial, industrial, residential and public projects.

Eric St-Hilaire, B.Sc. (Calgary)
Project Manager, Occupational Health & Safety and Hazardous Materials

Eric is a Project Manager in both the Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) and Hazardous Materials groups and has been employed by Pinchin Ltd. since 2011. Eric holds a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Calgary and a Certificate in Project Management form Mount Royal College. Eric is a member of the Canadian Society of Safety Engineers and the Alberta Chapter of the American industrial Hygiene Association. Eric was recently approved by Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Policy, Safe, Fair and Healthy Workplace Division as an instructor for the “Occupational Health and Safety for the Asbestos Worker” course.

Eric has over 12 years of environmental consulting experience and has completed 9050 projects on behalf of Pinchin Ltd., including assessments for hazardous materials, mould, Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) and worker exposures and abatements for hazardous materials and mould. Eric’s experience in these project includes residential and commercial clients; education institutions and government facilities; military bases; industrial; and oil & gas clients.

Upon completing this course, each participant is provided with a certificate as proof of the training.
