Asbestos Building Materials Survey

Pinchin Environmental assists building owners in the management of asbestos in buildings by identifying the extent of asbestos materials and the factors that represent a potential hazard.

Provincial regulations vary, but most require surveys for daily management of asbestos materials even in the absence of construction work. All provinces require surveys prior to renovations that may disturb asbestos materials.

Our staff has surveyed over 10,000 buildings, totaling over 100 million square feet. This practical experience allows us to tailor our survey methods to our client's specific needs.

(Building materials containing friable asbestos were in commercial use from the turn of the century until the early 1980's.)

Surveys are performed either on a room by room, or an area by area basis. Information on extent, condition and access, in each observation location, is collected by our field staff.

  • A comprehensive survey report is generated from the field data. This report shows the location, condition and types of asbestos and includes a detailed list of recommended actions to meet regulatory requirements.

  • Pinchin’s HMIS-Online (Hazardous Material Inventory System) allows managers on-line access to maintain and update surveys in large or multiple building surveys

Provision of periodic reassessment is required to meet regulatory requirements.

Surveys are conducted to meet the specific client circumstances and requirements including:

  • Surveys for Regulatory Compliance and Management
  • Property Transfer Surveys
  • Pre Specification Surveys for Renovation or Demolition

Asbestos building materials surveys can also be performed in concert with a pre-construction /pre-demolition Designated Substance Survey.
