The hazard of mould contamination in buildings has emerged as one of the most prominent public health issues of the late 1990’s. From leaky condominiums in British Columbia to flooded homes in Manitoba and mouldy schools in Newfoundland, what was once treated as a nuisance, many occupants now consider a risk to their health. Recent expert panel reviews have confirmed the association between mould growth in the indoor environment and adverse health effects. Several public buildings, including hospitals and health care facilities, have recently been shut down on discovery of mould. For all these reasons, those responsible for safety in buildings, must be ready to meet the challenges of this issue. The course has been designed for:
This is a three day course. The course delivery utilizes a significant amount of practical experience gained in the field. Discussions are strongly encouraged.
A course manual is provided to minimize the need to take notes and to maximize participation. The course manual also allows for better retention of knowledge and creates individualized follow-up reference material. Follow-up training support and materials are available.
