Legionella Risk in Buildings

The disease caused by Legionella bacteria is currently recognized as Legionnaires disease. It is serious with possible fatalities, particularly to immune compromised persons, the elderly, smokers, etc. caused by the inhalation of water aerosols containing Legionella pneumophila.

Contaminated water aerosols can typically be generated from poorly maintained cooling towers, water storage vessels, spas, hot tubs, faucet aerators or shower heads.

This breakfast seminar will present a summary understanding of Legionella, typical sources, current guidelines and control measures to minimize liability .
