Pinchin Environmental has been offering superior lab services for over 25 years as part of its full service environmental consulting and health and safety business. We provide reliable, confidential lab results on a fee-for-service basis either at our state-of-the-art facilities or in the field, if required.

Asbestos Laboratory

• Bulk Sample Asbestos Analysis by Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM), and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM)
  
  
• Air Sample Analysis by Phase Contrast Microscopy (PCM)

Environmental Dust Analysis

Highly accurate environmental dust identification

• Direct microscopie analysis of environmental dust for particulates such pollens and other categories of particulates   

Lead

 On-site and laboratory-based analysis of lead in paint, air and bulk sample

• Measurement of lead in paint, air and dust with on-site non-destructive X-Ray
• Fluorescence instrumentation
• Analysis of lead in paint, soil, air samples and swabs with Anodic Stripping Voltamettry

Legionella Laboratory

• Identification and determination of concentrations of Legionella pneumophila, its serogroups and other Legionella species in water and swab samples

Our laboratory participates in international proficiency testing for Legionella.

Pinchin Environmental also offers Legionella consulting services.   

Moulds and Bacteria

• Analysis of bulk, swab and dust samples for mould, spore trap samples and sewage-indicator bacteria by both culturing and direct microscope methods
• Air sample analysis by culturing methods, with species identification of significant fungi

Odour Laboratory

Dedicated facilities for odour and emissions testing and analysis

• All our facilities and procedures meet the following rigorous standards: American Society for esting and Materials (ASTM) Standard E679-91; European Standard Draft prEN 13725; Ontario Ministry of Environment draft standard for odour analysis
  
  
• Our olfactometer and panellist staging rooms are dedicated odour-free zones supplied by a filtered air supply and kept under positive pressure to improve ventilation and minimize ambient odour infiltration   

Accreditation

One of a Very Few Fully Canadian Asbestos Laboratories

We are two of six Canadian laboratories accredited for asbestos testing of bulk samples by the US National Institute of Standards and Technology, National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP Lab Code 101270-0 and Lab Code 200795-0), meeting ISO 17025 requirements and IHA, and for asbestos air monitoring samples (PCM) by participation in the IRSST Quality Control Program

Environmental Microbiology - Internationally Accredited Testing for Moulds 

Our microbiology laboratory is accredited for bulk, air and surface analysis of moulds by the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) Environmental Microbiology Laboratory Accreditation Program; we are a participant in the AIHA EMLAP Program
