Asbestos Laboratory Services

Pinchin Environmental has developed asbestos analytical services to support the hazardous materials field. These capabilities are available to building owners, consultants, engineers and laboratories on a confidential fee-for-service basis.

On large projects, analytical services may be provided in the field, if rapid turnaround of results is required.

The Pinchin Environmental Laboratory is capable of doing Bulk Sample Asbestos Analysis by Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM), and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM); and Air Sample Analysis by Phase Contrast Microscopy (PCM). Please follow these links for further information on each.

Pinchin Environmental Ltd. is one of four Canadian laboratories accredited by the US National Institute of Standards and Technology, National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP, Certification # 101270 and the relevant requirements of ISO 17025) for the identification of asbestos in bulk samples. A copy of the certificate is attached here. Accreditation to ISO standards provide an assurance of accurate and legally defensible analysis for our own clients and for other consultants and building owners who submit samples directly to our laboratory.

Preliminary fax results for Regular Turnaround samples are issued in five business days.  The results for Rush Turnaround samples are provided within one business day.  Written reports follow by mail.  The written report consists of a covering letter and a table of results.
