Health and Safety Responsibilities for Managers and Supervisors
1 Day Course
There are two versions of this course. One is intended for managers and supervisors working in commercial buildings, and one is for those employed in industrial facilities.
Pinchin Environmental offers a 1-day workshop for managers and supervisors to assist them in meeting their Health and Safety (H&S) obligations. The Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) requires employers to prepare an H&S policy, develop and implement an H&S program, and to appoint "competent" supervisors. "Competent" means that supervisors must have knowledge of the health and safety hazards in the workplace, and must be familiar with the OHSA and the regulations that apply to their work.
This seminar will include:
- a practical introduction to the OHSA and regulations;
- present a proven approach to H&S policy and program development;
- discuss effective H&S management and auditing the H&S program.
Each participant will receive a handout package including the most recent copy of the OHSA and regulations.

Format and Methodology:
This is a 6.5 hour basic course. The course delivery is focused significantly on ‘hands-on’ interactive methods. Group work and discussions are strongly encouraged.
A participant workbook is provided to minimize the need to take notes and to maximize participation. Although this is not a self-study program, the participant workbook will allow for self-study follow-up. It contains self-quizzes for better retention of knowledge and creates individualized follow-up reference material. Follow-up training support and materials are available.
Certificates:
Pinchin Environmental Ltd will issue a certificate to each participant upon successful completion of the course.
