It is common knowledge nowadays that asbestos is associated with diseases, however, many people remain unaware of the regulatory requirements for asbestos control.
The Manitoba Safety and Health Regulation 217/2006 sets detailed requirements regarding asbestos. This is enforced for day-to-day asbestos management and on construction projects. The consequences of non-compliance can include work stoppage and fines.
This course provides an in-depth review of everything related to asbestos, including its uses, health effects, relevant regulatory requirements, work classifications, and much more.

- Building survey methods and hazard assessments
- Interpretation of bulk & air sample analysis results

Technical Manager and Regional Practice Leader, Hazardous Materials
Edwin Wooster is a Technical Manager for the Hazardous Materials Group at Pinchin Ltd. He has over 30 years of experience, with more than 20 years in project management of environmental audits and hazardous materials management. Edwin is Pinchin’s Regional Practice Leader for Hazardous Materials for Saskatchewan, Manitoba and North Western Ontario. As a Technical Manager and Training Specialist out of Pinchin’s Winnipeg Office, he has a wide range of experience providing consulting services throughout Manitoba, as well as Saskatchewan and North Western Ontario. He provides a variety of training sessions on various subjects including Asbestos, Lead, PCB’s, Confined Space, Working at Heights, Spills Response, and WHMIS 2015. Project management experience includes a comprehensive asbestos reassessment project for a national financial institution consisting of over 700 branches across Canada. He has conducted in excess of 1000 asbestos survey and inspection projects and is extremely proficient at the collection of field data for the purpose of asbestos surveys. Edwin holds an Engineering Design and Drafting Technology diploma from Red River College.
