Seminar Overview

This session features a guest speaker - Julie Abouchar, Partner with Willms & Shier Environmental Lawyers LLP & Rosanna DiLabio, Senior Client Manager with Pinchin Ltd.

Julie will review the current regulatory landscape, provide an update on enforcement activities and advice on how to handle a City inspection or investigation. Rosanna will provide case studies and share lessons learned that will outline the various aspects of the City of Toronto Sewer Use By-Law.  During this interactive session, Julie will provide clear and practical advice from years of experience dealing with businesses involved in Sewer Use By-Law matters.

After this session, you will be able to answer these questions:

  • What are the risks and consequences associated with failing to be comply with the City of Toronto Sewer Use By-Law?
  • What is due diligence and how is it achieved?

Rosanna DiLabio, M.Sc., P.Eng., EP(CEA)
Senior Client Manager, Emissions Reductions & Compliance

Rosanna DiLabio is a Senior Client Manager, with the Emissions Reduction & Compliance Group. Rosanna has over 25 years’ experience in an industrial and consulting setting with strong focus on environmental issues. She is very knowledgeable about environmental laws and compliance requirements nationally and has a proven track record in sales and production environments. She is licensed with the Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) since 1992, holds a M.Sc. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Guelph and is a Certified Environmental Auditor with the Canadian Environmental Certification Approval Board.

Julie Abouchar is a recognized expert in environmental, Aboriginal and energy and natural resources law. She also advocates before tribunals and is a trained mediator. Julie is called to the bar in Ontario, New Brunswick, Nunavut and Northwest Territories.  She provides solutions to environmental law issues, from water protection, contaminated land and environmental assessment to environmental risk assessment, transactional due diligence and compliance. Julie also helps clients plan, structure and implement renewable energy and transmission projects and helps obtain environmental and renewable energy approvals.
