Seminar Description

The presentation Protecting Ontario Workers from Heat Stress and Heat-Related Illness covered essential information on recognizing, evaluating, control, and managing heat-related health risks in the workplace. The presentation included the causes and symptoms of various heat-related illnesses. The Ontario Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development ‘s 2023 Regulatory Impact Analysis would be reviewed to understand what may be covered if a Heat Stress Regulation is adopted.

Evaluation methods, including those established by the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienist and the Occupational Health Clinics for Ontario Workers were described. Practical tips on creating a heat stress plan, monitoring workplace conditions, and responding to heat stress would be shared to equip both employers and employees with the knowledge needed to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
