Sustainability is Our Responsibility.
Our Commitment to Sustainability.

Driving Positive Change.
We strive to build healthier, sustainable communities that protect present and future generations. Our vision for the future is built on a foundation of sustainable practices intended to guide our evolution and growth. Our sustainability program guides our actions and decisions, from delivering client solutions and managing daily operations to connecting with people and communities. It is a master framework that propels our business approach and ensures ongoing advancement.

At Our Core.
As an environmental engineering firm, we have the opportunity and responsibility to shape a more sustainable world. Our deep technical expertise, understanding of societal dynamics, and decades of industry experience uniquely position us to influence sustainable practices for our clients and local communities. Our specialists across Canada are also environmentally motivated, bringing scientific rigour to sustainability challenges and helping us advance positive climate action.
Sustainability.
Pinchin’s sustainability strategy is built upon the 5 Strategy focus areas that stand as the core of everything we do, driving our commitment to our clients, our communities, and a more sustainable future.

We embed sustainability and resilience into every aspect of our practise. Our technical expertise helps clients navigate environmental challenges and create lasting positive impacts.
Our success comes from our people. We invest in their growth, champion diversity, and create an environment where everyone can thrive. We extend this positive impact to our local communities through local partnerships and community initiatives.
We build trust through clear accountability and ethical practices. In 2024, Pinchin became a participant in the United Nations Global Compact, the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative. The Compact focuses on supporting businesses and firms worldwide in adopting sustainable and socially responsible policies and reporting on their implementation.

We actively work to reduce our environmental footprint through emission reduction and waste minimization programs. Pinchin is also committed to sustainable action through our operations and project work.
While our efforts positively impact all 17 SDGs to varying degrees, we focus on specific core SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) where we can have the greatest scalable impact through our project scope and services.
Environmental.
We adhere to the highest environmental standards, ensuring that every aspect of our operations minimizes risk and harm to the planet. From energy conservation to waste reduction, we’ve outlined clear goals for reducing our carbon footprint while enhancing our environmental stewardship. We’re also continuously updating our practices to stay ahead of industry trends and maintain our leadership in sustainable operations. Our environmental commitment operates on two levels:

We continuously improve our environmental footprint through targeted initiatives focused on:
- Waste Reduction: We’ve implemented waste diversion programs, from standardized recycling to specialized partnerships for electronic materials.
- GHG Emissions Management: We’ve committed to reducing our Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 30% from the 2023 baseline.
- Energy Efficiency: Our facility management approach prioritizes energy conservation through green lease criteria and sustainable building practices.
Our greatest contribution to sustainability and environmental impact comes from our consulting services and projects. We endeavour to apply sustainability in our projects to support healthier environments and help our clients build more sustainable structures and operations.
Social.
We know that true sustainability goes beyond environmental impact—it’s about enriching the social fabric of the communities we serve. Through Indigenous partnerships and charitable giving, we’re proud to foster a culture of giving back and making a meaningful difference.

We create positive change through active community engagement and meaningful social impact. We are a proud member of the Canadian Council for Indigenous Business, working to build inclusive business relationships across Canada. This membership connects us with Indigenous communities and businesses, and we follow established protocols for Indigenous engagement in our business operations.
Our efforts to create positive change in our communities are driven by our Community Impact Program. Through this program, we focus on three key pillars:
- Environmental: We drive environmental sustainability through local initiatives and our annual company-wide community clean-up events.
- Education: We support future talent and provide educational opportunities to empower growth.
- Community Support: We enhance community well-being and resilience through food security programs and pro-bono consulting services.
Each pillar builds upon and reinforces the others for a holistic approach to community development and social impact that reflects our values and vision for a more sustainable future.
Giving back is a foundational part of who we are. Our employees spearhead multiple fundraising events and initiatives every year for local charities and organizations. From food banks to environmental groups, we’re grateful to support causes that make a true difference for the communities we call home.
Our annual apple campaign, a tradition started by our founder to express appreciation to our clients, is a true expression of our roots. Employees from offices that are near apple orchards pick apples to give to our clients as a symbol of our thanks. Our offices that are further from the orchards give harvest baskets made of locally sourced goods. With each basket, a donation is made on our client’s behalf to a local food bank.
We’re also proud to support the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) through their Room Adoption Program. Our contribution helps fund the ongoing operations of RMHC to support families so they can stay close to their loved ones during challenging times. We’re honoured to play a small part in providing comfort, care, and hope to those in need by keeping families together when it matters most.
Governance & Security.
Our success at Pinchin is built on clear and strong governance standards, with our guidelines reflecting this fundamental commitment. We lead by example, ensuring that our operations meet the highest standards of integrity and accountability while adhering to the most rigorous governance frameworks.

Our leadership team maintains the high ethical standards that define Pinchin’s approach to business and governance. From creating company-wide goals to overseeing the day-to-day operations of our offices, our leaders ensure that transparency and accountability are embedded in every level of our organization. We will continuously strive to meet or exceed our ethical obligations, both internally and externally.
We hold ourselves to the highest standards of ethics. We introduced mandatory ethical business training for all employees in 2020. This training covers our expectations for professional conduct, decision-making, and interactions with clients, colleagues, and partners. By educating each member of our team and holding everyone to the same expectations, we create a culture of integrity that extends to every aspect of our business.
