Webinar Description

Most regions of North America now experience wildfire and smoke events on a regular basis. Even when buildings are not directly damaged by fire, smoke and combustion byproducts can infiltrate structures and create significant impacts for occupants, building systems, infrastructure, and insurers. Ash, soot, particulate, and other residues can enter buildings through ventilation systems and building openings, creating both health concerns and operational challenges. This webinar brings together a group of experts who will discuss the health impacts of smoke exposure, occupational health considerations, how combustion byproducts move through buildings, and practical approaches for cleanup and protecting building assets following fire events.

Webinar Description

Canada is implementing a strict regulatory framework to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 40–45% below 2005 levels by 2030 and achieve net-zero by 2050, anchored by the Canadian Net-Zero Emissions Accountability Act.

Most provinces are mandating reduced carbon emissions through regulations targeting industrial polluters, cleaner fuels, and new technology, aiming for a 37% reduction below 1990 levels by 2030.

Natural features (agriculture, forest, peat bog, foreshore, grassland) and subsurface geology (notably sandstone and coal) have significant capacity to sequester and store carbon emissions which in turn mitigates the impact of land and industrial development. Pinchin recently completed a study on natural features within a large regional district. The study helped the district identify land strategies that will maintain and improve their sequestration potential going forward.

Please join our panel of experts where we review the steps governments, regional districts, municipalities and major landowners can take to inventory and manage these ecosystems for current and future benefit.
